This may point to you NEEDING a better or more restful sleep pattern and relaxation routines.

There is nothign wrong with the odd cat nap or "power" nap - in fact it can be quite healthy. You may be feeling so rubbish after the nap becuase you have slept for more than 45 minutes. Try and set an alarm so that you awake within 45 minutes, this keeps the body out of the delta/rem sleep cycles which will happen if you sleep for more than an hour.

Also, if you must stay awake; try opening windows for more fresh air, snack on oats and flapjacks etc, and only use coffee when it is an absolute hypothetical need.

Very good situations, that too in summer season, I used to sleep for a million hour after lunch.

I know that some people find that coffee can be helpful but sometimes if I eat something sweet that it will help me stay up. I often sleep due to one of my medical conditions: fibromyalgia.

But I would recommend having this checked out by a dr to rule out things such as a thyroid condition to be on the safe side.

The trick is, never to get yourself in a situation where you are going to fall asleep, keep a constant supply of fresh air in the house, a bit of music, some coffee.. result.

Use an alarm clock, or better yet...sleep more at night so you don't need to sleep during the day.
