No one knows, only God the Father.
When it is around the time, we will be able to narrow it down further, maybe we will not know the date even when it is finally that day (because Jesus said we will know the times and seasons, and that the day and the hour cannot be known), so maybe we will not know until it happens.
Like a woman having a baby (naturally, not c-section), you just never know, but you know that when she is in labor, and the water breaks, that it is very soon. In like manner, we will know when it is that close.
By the way, NO, it's not that close. (At the moment, she pregnant and huge, but no labor pains, no contractions. "She" being the times.)
Sometimes, labor pains come on suddenly, sometimes they kind of sneak up on you, so it is hard to guess. Could be anytime. It will be "soon" to God, "soon" in the overall time of things, but to us, it could be today, or it could be years and years from now. We cannot know just yet.
I believe it is this way on purpose to hide the time of God's plan from satan (and his helpers, be they demons, or man). Sort of like keeping D-day secret in WW2.

Well even I think it would be soon. Hopefully. It would end the dispute between Christians and Muslims. I'm a Muslim, therefore I will give you an Islamic perspective of this. God says in the Quran "And most surely he (Jesus) is a sign of the hour (Judgement day), therefore have no doubt about it and follow me: this is the right path"
Hadith:
Narrated Abu Hurayrah: The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: There is no prophet between me and him, that is, Jesus (peace be upon him). He will descend (to the earth). When you see him, recognise him: a man of medium height, reddish fair, wearing two light yellow garments, looking as if drops were falling down from his head though it will not be wet. He will fight for the cause of Islam. He will break the cross, kill swine and abolish jizyah. Allah will cause all religions except Islam to perish. He will destroy the Antichrist and will live on the earth for forty years and then he will die. The Muslims will pray over him. Sunnan Abu Dawud 37:4310
How will you be when the son of Mary descends amongst you and he will judge people by the Law of the Qur'an and not by the Law of the Gospel. Sahih Bukhari 4:55:658
#After Jesus slays al-MasÄ«h al-DajjÄl (literally "the Deceiving Messiah," loosely the Antichrist; often referred to simply as "DajjÄl") at the Gate of Ludd in Palestine, Muslims believe he will marry, die and be buried in the Masjid al Nabawi. During his life, he will have revealed that Islam is the true religion of God.
May God Bless You and show you the right path. Amen.

Jesus came back in 1987. He took one look at the Earth and thought better of it.
He didn't have that great a time when he was here last. I mean, the first 33 years were okay, but a total bummer of an ending.

~ homeward07...
~ I think it will be even sooner...
~ But, ask the Lord for the date and for confirmation... which may be difficult, as we were not ment to know the date nor the hour, according to the Word.
~ 1Th 4:17 Then we which are alive [and] remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.
~ ~ Note... 'caught up' referes in the original Greek word 'harpazo'... to snatch or catch away
~ Jer 23:20 The anger of the LORD shall not return, until he have executed, and till he have performed the thoughts of his heart: in the latter days ye shall consider it perfectly.
~ Jer 30:24 The fierce anger of the LORD shall not return, until he have done [it], and until he have performed the intents of his heart: in the latter days ye shall consider it.

They used to crucify guys and toss the christians to the lions.
Infact i think the world is much better because of law and order and democracy.

The Bible says that no man will know the hour when the Son of Man will return.
However, we are told about the season of his coming, when certain things have to happen before he can come back.
Even so come quickly, Lord Jesus!
