I am a huge fan of Brian Vickers, but I have found that alot of Hendrick fans now hate him because of the incident at Talladega and the fact that he left Hendrick. How does everyone feel about it? I personally think it was the smartest move of his career. He had a good finish at California and will have more to come.

Vickers left the "pawn car" for a better ride. The 25 car that he won is was a throwaway car.If the "premiere" drivers need to secure points for or toward their championship then it was the 25 car that would have a problem.
That was the consensus after the Talladega wreck,Vickers should have backed off and let Johnson win,but Vickers ran his own race and won.
I wish him luck and he had a very good run for Toyota Sunday.

lol.. That first answer is a little off the subject I think! Anyways!

I've been a Hendrick fan since the early 90's. I don't think I was ever excited about that 25 car since Ken Schrader drove it until Vickers stepped into the hot seat. I enjoyed watching him win the Busch Series Championship in his Rookie Season driving the late Ricky Hendricks Chevrolet. I was a little surprised @ the amount of time it took him to win a race! He was so close, so many times! When he finally got it though, I loved it... Even though the end result was Johnson wrecking! (Jr spinning out didn't tick me off that much!) No way that was intentional... Now that Vickers has hopped over on the Toyota boat, I know alot of former fans that didn't jump with him! I personally, will keep wearing my BV#25 shirts and hats! He did what a smart business man should've done! Without Ricky Hendrick, BV wasn't really cut for Hendricks Motorsports.. (Remember, Boss Man Rick H. hand picked Casey Mears for that ride but Ricky H. talked him into letting Brian take the ride) As far as "Yota" goes... He's getting the $ he wants and a decent ride. I know all the talk has been that Blaney, and Mayfield would be the best "Yota's" in the field but I really thought that was wrong. Vickers was the pick for me! Now, That top-10 this weekend @ Cali doesn't mean he will be for sure.. But it's leaning that way! Wouldn't it be awesome to see him make the Chase?! Tough roads lay ahead but we will see!

I think it was a good move for him, because that 25 car is junk compared to the other Hendrick cars. I bet Mears ends up with a similar year to Brian's last year. some good finishes here and there, combined with some poor finishes. He had a heck of a run yesterday, and if he can just keep getting the car in the races and stay in to top 35, he'll be fine. he is a talented driver, regardless of what some people are saying here. he won a friggin busch championship at age 20. all in all, he is now, i would say, the top Toyota driver and he has a proven winning crew chief. he has a much better chance of being succesfull with Team Red Bull than in that 25 car.

I'm not sure what to think since Vickers had the best equipment at Hendrick and never really dominated a race. He got lucky that Nascar then penalize him for spinning Jr and Johnson last fall at Talladega. He may race better at Red Bull racing but I'm still wondering if it was a good move.

I think he was kind of stupid for doing that. I liked him too as I hate Kyle Busch, and I am a huge Hendrick Motorsports fan and I love Jeff Gordon. I think the Talladega inncident is a toss up depending on how you look at it. You should always pass a teammate clean but then I can also understand that you get so excited that you might have a chance to win your first Nextel Cup race ever and you just accidently push a little to hard and get the person sideways. It just depends on how you look at it. I know alot of people were mad but I was like its racing and I don't think their was alot that could of changed that. As for him leaving Hendrick, I like Casey Mears and everything but he was the only one to not have a win until Talladega and I think now that he is racing wiht Red Bull he isn't going to have much of a career as he has to race his way into every single race and he didnt make Daytona as if he was with Hendrick he would of had an automatic starting spot and I think he left a great organization and Hendrick is one of the best, and you can't get much better then that so in the end I think it was a stupid mistake to leave Hendrick, I think they should of got rid of Kyle Busch. Now I would of loved ot see that.

Hendrick wanted him out. It was the smartest move of his career. Vickers took out cup contenders for greed. Not a good team player.
