I will not be afraid Lyrics

I will not be afraid;
I will not be afraid;
I will look upward,
And travel onward,
And not be afraid.

He says He will be with me;
He says He will be with me;
He goes before me,
And is beside me,
So I'm not afraid.

His arms are underneath me;
His arms are underneath me;
His hand upholds me,
His love enfolds me,
So I'm not afraid.

His Word will stand for ever;
His Word will stand for ever;
His truth it shall be
My shield and buckler,
So I'm not afraid.

He will give grace and glory;
He will give grace and glory;
His cross before me,
His banner o'er me,
So I'm not afraid.

So we go singing onward;
So we go singing onward;
We're pressing forward,
We're marching upward,
To Him unafraid.

~ Ellis Govan was inspired by the hymn "Who Trust in God, a Strong Abode, which was from Psalm 56:11... "In God have I put my trust: I will not be afraid what man can do unto me."

~ The song was written inGermany in 1572... was translated from German to English by Benjamin Hall Kennedy (not Benny Hinn) in 1863 and altered in 1864 by Edward Henry Bickersteth. The Music... "Bishopgarth" was by Arthur Semour Sullivan in 1874.

~ Sounds good too!

This song was a product of the persecution during the war with Japan in the 1930's.
It is credited to Ellis Govan (1935).
