Do you mean a ridge hand?
A ridge hand is where you tuck your thumb and strike with the thumb joint side of your hand.
It is hard to describe it, but you should be able to find other versions of it on line.

When 2 people face each other and their outer hands touch at about the wrist. This is used for both defense and offense. The point is to close distance and either trap, block, or just punch right through an opponents guard either by twisting at the fore arm to just knock the opponents arm away enough to hit them, or you can well, do alot of things. If you would like to learn bridge hand techs take up wing chun or tai chi . It is kinda hard to describe this you just have to try it.

my understanding of the concept of bridge hand or arm is used in Wing Chun and Praying Mantis systems. think of it as the connection between your opponent or partner and you ,it is a way of drilling arms, hands to be sensitive to the angle, direction and force of an incoming strike with the briefest touch or contact.good luck

I believe you may have heard wrong...in the Arts it is called "Ridge-Hand", which is the opposite of a knife-hand or inverted. Contact is made with the meaty part between the thumb and index finger.
