Both husband and wife are Christians.
At one time, the wife and husband belonged to a small, Christian group/sect who openly despised other Christian groups.
The wife became uncomfortable with the sectarianism and stopped attending.
The husband continued.
The wife began attending a meeting with a wider spectrum of Christians. The husband refused to accompany her.
The wife has recently left the husband saying he must leave the sect if she is to return home.
Both feel strongly that they are in God's will and the other is not.
What is your opinion?

Thank you for all your helpful answers. The situation is complex and needs the Holy Spirit's work of bringing to light how God feels about it.

Well, we need the Holy Spirit to judge who is right and who is wrong. But if the wife believe that he is in a cult, separating herself till he returns is good. She can pray for him then. From what you've mentioned, it appears that the husband could be part of a cult.
She must continuously ask God to reveal the truth to her husband.

God hates divorce. The wife should stay with the husband and pray for him. It might be that through her behavior he gets saved.
Oh, and if there is a group/sect who "openly despises" other Christians, then I would call that a cult and not Christian at all.
Still, the wife should obey her husband, God will know her heart.

That "openly despised other Christian groups" bothers me. Christ is supposed to unite us, not divide us. The ONLY thing Christ divides is the godly from the ungodly, the righteous from the wicked. But that is all I can gather from the details you gave. As to who is right, the husband or wife, instincts say the wife, but it depends if the small group was condemning sects that profess to be Christian but blatantly disobey God's commands. If, though, the group was just despising people for being Lutheran or Catholic or Baptist, then the group was wrong.

Simple---which church acts more like Jesus? If there can be no agreement both find another church to go to together-like starting over. if this doesn't work and niether chose to give up or change , then maybe its time to remember that in the last days many loves will wax cold.....maybe seperating the conflict will bring some light back into the situation. Not divorce--just step back for awhile and let God take control of the situation, and sometimes being apart for awhile ends up being the best way to see things clearly plus gives you one on one time with God, till things fall back into place.

Maybe have them talk to a Christian pastor they both respect who can act as a mediator for them. Even though that is pretty strange that a Christian group would despise another...

Logically speaking, there can not be two true religion.
5 One Lord, one faith, one baptism,
6 One God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all.
(New Testament | Ephesians 4:5 - 6)
In my Opinion, the one teaches hate towards other religions is definitely not of God. God teaches love, not hate.

It appears from this that the wife is wrong. If she was married to a non-believer, the bible says she shouldn't leave him so how much more if he is a Christian ?

both should pray well and freely talk to each other and share the plus minus of the groups they worship , however this to be left to the will of God as satan uses this quarrel as a tool for divorce.

Politics sucks.
Unless one of them is catholic they are both wrong anyway.
