There are many Linux download sites. Your Linux installation set should have included a C/C++ compiler

the closest compatible Linux set I know of to try...

There are differences between the assorted Linux releases, but most things that work in one will work in all.

I'd just go with the GNU compilers. You should be able to add them (assuming they weren't installed by default) through the Add/Remove Programs menu item.

You should have GCC with your distribution if you do not go to

http://gcc.gnu.org

or do a

man gcc to see if you already have it installed.
