don't panic.
if possible, add more regular to fill the tank.
or wait a few days, then top it up with regular.
your car will probably run better on regular, but a blast of the good stuff is not likely to cause serious damage.

I have a 2000 model ford along with several others , it is a flex fuel car , but i ran 87 octane for a while ..now all I will put in mine is 93 octane , it makes them run smoother ,and better mileage versus flex fuel and the 87 octane ...Regular is still unleaded fuel as is 89 , 92 and 93 octanes so it will be fine you may even like the better performance from the premium ...

to many octanes can cause your car to run poorly, simply because octane is the resistance to combustion. However, most fuel that is sold at the pumps will NOT hurt your car. higher octane fuel forces your cars engine to reach Top Dead Center or slightly prior before the fuel ignites. This can increase performance and fuel economy. This doens't mean go out and buy 115 octane airplane fuel for your car, that can hurt your car if you ran it down the interstate for a couple hours.

Engines require a minimum amount of octane. Using the higher octane gas will not hurt your engine. Don't worry. Resume the use of 87 octane when you fill up next time, but if you were to run 92, it would only hurt your wallet.

octane rating is ... tough question .. the higher the octane the slower the burn of the fuel which in the case of hi compression motors this is an atvantage when making power, on a low compression motor such as yours you will make less power with premium but there will be no dammage to your motor. your motor needs just enough oct. to keep from getting a detonation knock more is not always better. in your case 87 oct at sea level is fine. and as many think its better its not same gas with an octane additive. too many ace mech here..

It's fine. All u really ended up doing is spending a couple more bucks. Besides premium unleaded lasts longer. Just try not to do it again unless its on purpose.

No, a single tank of premium fuel won't hurt it at all. It won't do any good, but it won't cause any harm.

Use of premium fuel with an engine designed for regular grade over an extended period of time can cause some problems with the buildup of deposits in some engines. A single tank is harmless. You'd have to use premium for years to possibly cause any harm at all.

Its fine; I always ran the higher octane in my 80 Chevette because it kept it from knocking. No harm other than to your wallet.
