You can boil, steam or bake them. Some people also spread some butter on it after removing the peel.
You may also steam chestnuts and sweet potato, crush them together and form new chestnuts = traditional Japanese dessert.
But I think you should know - if you eat too many sweet potatoes, they will create a lot of CO2 inside your body. Not sure how it's called in English, but you'll "release a lot of stinky gas".

We add sweet potato, pumpkin, or regular potato to our stewed beans(any kind of bean can be used). Serve on the side with rice (white or yellow) and a salad or fried plantains (sweet or crunchy).
If you would like to try the recipe for Puerto Rican Stewed Beans you can find it at the website below.

savoury: roast with meat(chicken, pork, etc..) with butter and a bit a sugar sprinkled on top. steamed. mashed like potatoes with milk/cream,fried in slices, knead with flour into a dough: bread, dumplings...etc
sweet: mashed with spices like cinnemon and made into a pie, muffins, cakes, fritters, panckes, the possiblities are endless.
Sweet potatoes contains a lot of fibres...which tend to give u gas..but it's odourless though. and has a lot of vitamins and minerals and antioxidants, and they are normally not very expensive.....perfect food for anyone
In fact, you can detox by eating sweet potato(steamed) with vegetables in the morning.
