Did you get a new puppy? Well, make him a bed in a crate or a playpen. Maybe you have a laundry room and some newspaper. I would get him a blanket and a stuffed toy to replace his littermates. This works quite well with a chihuahua as they seem to bond to a toy. Some puppies will cry for three nights running until they realize they are home. He could sleep with you........

First of all, dogs are pack animals and packs ALWAYS sleep as a group, so isolating the dog away from you will make it worse. Comforting the puppy will also encourage it to keep crying. The best thing to do is get the puppy a crate or kennel that you keep in your bedroom. The puppy will be comforted by being with you and will also learn that when it's in there it's time for sleeping!! Ignore the cries and after a few nights, it will stop. You have to be careful not to ignore "have to pee" cries or it will pee in the kennel and that will make it very hard to potty train later on. What I always do is I take water away from a young dog a few hours before bed and then let it go out to pee right before bed, and you've got at least 4-6 hours before a puppy should have to pee again, so if it cries during that time, you know to ignore it. An older dog can hold it all night no problem. If it is crying to go out, don't make it a fun time, or it will want to be let out all night. Let it out, then back in bed.
Good luck, and all the work will be worth it - I promise!!

Make sure the puppy is warm. Puppys love the warmth of the mom and littermates.. so make a warm bed on folded blanket or cloths. Sometimes putting a light cloth over your puppy's body will simulate the other puppys being close. You might put the cloths near your bed where you can put your hand down and touch the little one. Have milk handy for those night feedings and have papers down for the night time pottys. Have a little dim, night light so puppy can find milk and potty papers on its own after a couple nights. And remember to watch your step.. lol... If puppy is on a cold floor you might even fold a low temp heating pad into that blanket bed. unplug and pick up the heating pad during the day or puppy might chew through the wires.

There isn't much to do. All of our dogs did it too. They aren't as bad if you have another dog. Did you get a blanket or towel that has his mother and siblings scent on it. That helps a lot and if you don't have something your pup is probably panicking right now. Don't worry though your pup will soon be okay in about a week or less depending on how easy his transition is. The key is not to stress it out. Don't run the vacuum, yell at him, or do anything to make the puppy feel unsafe. Give it time to adjust at his own pace and don't push anything new onto it.

it may take a couple of nights to clam the little one down, what i did was crate the puppy with bath towels that were thrown in the dryer on high heat for about 5 mins. then kinda fold kinda fluff it up in the crate for him to curl up in. i found also that my daughter came up with the idea of letting our puppy "borrow" her stuffed puppy dog. pretty smart idea from a 8 yr old, and it worked.
it also helped as well to have the crate next to your bed, that way the pup can hear your voice if it begins to cry. as long as they know you are close by, should be assurance enough. be patient.

I've had probably 100 dogs in my lifetime, and I loved them all, whenever I got a new puppy, I put that baby in bed with me and it always went right to sleep, eventually it knew when bedtime was and slept at the foot of my bed. If your worried about accidents, just like a baby they will wake you up first, if they do have an accident then just strip your bed and wash those sheets! There is nothing like the love of a puppy!

ignore it and do not comfort it by playing with it. my dog when i first got him did that but after a few days he stopped because he realised it wasn't getting him what he wanted, which was attention. Don't worry, also feeding the puppy puppy milk may help it to sleep because once they are full they sleep quickly.
good luck and love your puppy and take care of it because mine was stolen on friday and i loved him so much.

I laid on the floor and slept next to the crate the first night, talking and letting her kinda nibble on my finger and just know I was there. She never cried again like she did the first night...I have never known the clock trick to really work.

Wipe the mother and the littermates down with a towell, and then let the puppy sleep on the towell.

Just stay near it. Let it feel your presence and don't force it not to cry. Allow him to have his space and show your affection in a hum ble and caring manner. Hold him in your arms and make him feel secure. It's not that tough, you know. Soon he will realise you are there for his own good.
