I bought it because of the good review and all. Thing is, it smells like detergent powder. Well, it smells good to me, but is it safe for my kitty? My cat sneezes once or twice each time he gets to the litter box. He only sneezes when he smells something extremely strong like my husband's boots after visiting engine plants.

Yea i had it for a while when my kitten was a baby..only because you need to get those kind of litter for them so when they decide to try to eat it it wont get clumpy in their digest system, it will dissolve easily..but now that she's older i got rid of fresh step because after awhile it would smell bad and i changed it to now i only get tidy cats, which works so much better because once they poop or pee in the litter it clumps it up and you just dump out what is clumpy, i seemed to have a problem with that with fresh step it wasn't as good as i thought it would be. i would recommend you try getting tidy cat next time you will like it alot better.(if you don't have a kitten)

just try it out and if you don't like it then go back to fresh step, but i have this feeling you will be much happier with tidy cat like i am.

This stuff is great...I use it for my kitty. Yes it is safe, and it is normal for them to sneeze around it, mine does too. It is strong smelling and for a good reason. Cat urine is potent and this stuff is the best litter I have used so far. Another good kitty litter is Yesterday's News. It does a pretty good job with keeping odor on the down-low.

Use it on occassion and cats show no sign of panic. Like the one that has crystals and then I add another cat odor powder to that. There is only two liters on the market that effectively control odor from my experience and fresh step is one of them! The other is in a purple box that says "with crystals"! Can't state the name as I don't do free advertising for these multi billion dollar greedholes!

I use fresh step for my kitties and also put a bit of baking soda at the bottom of the litter pan to help absorb Odor's.

yes. it is safe. its the only brand of litter i buy for my cat because it DOES cover up odors and as for the sneezing...its completely normal. i asked our vet and he said not to be worried...that it is the same as you sneezing when you smell something strong.

I use it sometimes. Your kitty probably sneezes because it's "dusty". It makes me sneeze when I pour it in the box, too. It probably isn't hurting him, but it might be good to try out other brands if it gives him the sniffles.
