This is for a film that is close to done about the Journey of Ballet San Jose as one of if not the leading arts institution in the Valley. We are trying to benchmark the values of sponsorship/logo recognition. Please share your opinions.

If you are looking for sponsorship, then a logo does add some intrinsic value to your product. For example, when you see the PBS or National Education Association logos as sponsors on public television programming, you can instantly identify the logos with the organizations for brand-name recognition.

Not sure if you are talking about your own organization or that of your sponsors, but placing the logos on the product (film, television show, etc) adds to the recognition factor for the audience.

Your consumers (in this case, your audience) will be more inclined to provide additional support if they recognize some of the logos. In other cases, if you have a logo, you might create some brand recognition, and your audience may be more inclined to view your film or provide additional sponsorship.

Sounds like a wonderful film, but I'm really not sure what your question is.
Are you trying to get someone to design a logo for your film?
Are you trying to purchase the rights to use a logo for your film?

Have you contacted local businesses in the San Jose area?
