I've found some good value tickets to Hong Kong in March with Oasis Air but don't know anything about them and am not sure whether to take the chance with them or use the more expensive, well known Cathay. Any extra information would be great!

Yes, I flew with them two months ago. The service was on time, with friendly flight crew, good food, and a good selection of seat back entertainment, plus a moving flight map.

Seat pitch is BETTER than BA, Virgin, and, I think, Cathay. Although I haven't tried Cathay, my fiancee has and she preferred the Oasis seats.

Bear in mind you have to pay for alcohol on board, plus any extra drinks you want outside of mealtimes. But the flight is usually cheaper than BA/Virgin/Cathay!

Also, Oasis don't interline with other carriers, so if you need onward connections, you'll need to collect your baggage and go through immigration to check in again. We did this, but no hassles in doing so.

So, they're well worth trying. Their on-time performance is in the mid nineties percent, compared with BA whose last figure I saw was in the 70s. I don't know what OTP figures Cathay and Virgin have.

I`ve read a good deal about this company - and its all pretty positive so far - their business class is pretty cheap to if you want the extra legroom. Have a good dig round the website and see what you think.

if you decide on Cathay try cxholidays thats their holiday branch
