I think it may be something from the 1950's or 1960's that you are talking about when you speak of "Mayo" as a har cair instrument. Women would often use an Iron...that's correct, an iron to straighten their har. Another problem for everyone was that only the wealthy, had access to hair treatment. Even then, a dep hair conditioning might be an all day affair. Oddly enough, women would leave the salon with their hair basically laquered to their scalp from all or the aerosol hair spray used by the the beautician.
When the average girl had dry and brittle hair from using a hot iron or simply soap to wash, I imagine that the mayo would add a bit of softening to their hait. With that ability to brush the hair, they got and a limp and flat, as well as greasy look. Because Mayonaise is 90 some percent vegitable oil, it is better suited for raising your chloresteral than problematic hair care.
You may want to dry "Fiizz Ease" or any number of "leave in" conditioning agents that are available in most stores. The thing is that you could visit 10 dirrerent salons for advice and receive 6 different "guaranteed" results. That is because of commission sales. Just like our beloved righteous..or...crooked.or...elected peolpe in politics that would sell their own mother for a price. My suggestion is a good conditioning during your shower and a leave in agent afterwards. You should have any severly damaged areas cut to make room for new growth. Most importantly, don't use an iron to straighten your hair. There are other ways. More on that later. As for the Mayo. I prefer it over miracle whip on my sandwiches. Good Luck.

Mayonnaise is a thick, creamy sauce or dressing that is made of oil, egg yolks, lemon juice or vinegar, and seasonings. It's not the same as salad dressing, which doesn't contain egg yolks and is generally sweeter than mayonnaise. It's available in almost all groceries.

Celebrities like Avril Lavigne use mayonnaise to condition their hair so it must work.

Mayonnaise is known for its excellent ability in conditioning hair. Mayonnaise is for the most part made of vegetable oil, eggs, lemon, and vinegar. These are excellent ingredients to make our hair shiny and soft. Vegetable oil adds moisture. Eggs are for protein. Vinegar and lemon juice close the hair cuticle to seal and add shine.

Depending on the length of your hair, apply approximately half a cup of mayonnaise to your hair. Work into hair really well and cover your hair with a plastic bag, allowing to set for about 15 minutes. Rinse thoroughly and then shampoo as usual.

For more intensive conditioning, coat your hair in mayonnaise and leave it in for an hour. Rinse out and wash.

seems everyone has told you what mayo is - warm about a cupful or two put it in your hair, put on a shower cap leave for 15-30 minutes then remove excess with your hands, rinse out the rest with warm not hot water then put in a really good shampoo to at least twice so you do not go around smelling like a salad
