At my workplace we have few paintings, which hardly any, whom I know have understood that. I feel we can better put a poster of some thing which can be useful to everyone than these paintings.
Some thing which any one can comprehend and appreciate.

Interesting statement...

Personally I find it interesting how an individual can understand ART and not construct a full sentence.
I think you’ve watched too much Sister Wendy or something because YOU definitely NEVER went to college to learn about art.

As for a POSTER? What the HECK!! If you think a poster can replace a real painting I suggest you look at your coworkers cubicles. They probably have drawings by their children that portray more expression than a poster can provide..

Art displayed in businesses usually falls into one of these categories:

(a) Reflects the taste of whoever chose it

(b) Chosen to project a sophisticated corporate image

(c) Created by a friend or relative of someone important enough to insist it be displayed

Don't waste your energy being annoyed that you feel like you don't understand it. Either find something you like about it (pretty colors, interesting patterns), see the humor in the situation, or learn to ignore it.

You don't have to "understand" arts (leave that to the snobs who pretend they understand). Every piece of art is something you love -or hate- , that generates an emotion in you. But "understand" ? Of course you can look at the perspective, the composition, the use of colours and the painting (or sculpting) techniques and materials. But all that is not relevant, it's the emotion that counts.

Hello,

jacquesh2001 is right you love or don't love an artwork you don't need to understand it. Sometimes even the artists don't agree with the interpretation that "experts" in art made of their works .
Sometimes in my exhibits I like to hear the "interpretation " that some people makes of my works and some of the symbols I use...there is times that I just want to laugh
