can someone please tell me how i can explain the concept of balance and moderation from this passage.

"Blessed are you who are poor, for the kingdom of God is yours. Blessed are you who are now hungry, for you will be satisfied. Blessed are you who are now weeping, for you will laugh. Blessed are you when people hate you, and when they exclude and insult you, and denounce your name as evil on account of the Son of Man. Rejoice and leap for joy on that day! Behold, your reward will be great in heaven. For their ancestors treated the prophets in the same way. But woe to you who are rich, for you have received your consolation. But woe to you who are filled now, for you will be hungry. Woe to you who laugh now, for you will grieve and weep. Woe to you when all speak well of you, for their ancestors treated the false prophets in this way.”

that would be an example of eisegesis, i.e. making the passage say what you want it to say. this passage is not intended to teach balance and moderation.

To me, the so called Beatitudes are a call to repentance. They are more than just that, but moderation I do not see there.

If I wanted to use anything from the Bible as being a message about temperance, I would use other parts of the Bible-- where the main thrust of the text tells people not to be a slave to alcohol and other things that people can get into too much. They take away from the servitude that we are supposed to have in Christ. They take our focus away from where it should be; "Keeping our eyes on Jesus, the Author and Finisher of Faith." ( Hebrews 12).

1 Timothy 5:23 Drink no longer water, but use a little wine for thy stomach's sake and thine often infirmities.

First to be temperant in all things is to have balance God in these passages was showing the contrast between the values of the folks He was witnessing to as apposed to what God thought as proper, There was a rich young ruler Mark 10:17 came and asked what He must do to have eternal life, in the talk Jesus [the second member of The Godhead] showed this person that what the young man really was is he was not willing to obey God at all, his greed had a hold of him, Christ the one he was talking to gave up His place as a member of The Godhead, gave up Heaven to come and live here and die in our place, but that rich young man was not willing to give to others in order to meet basic needs but rather was wanting to keep it all for Himself and yet find a place in Heaven with Jesus who gave Himself to save others you might look at this difference as temperance, find out much more free on line bible lessons www.itiswritten.com bible questions www.bibleinfo.com God bless talk to me also wgr88@yahoo.com

These verses are called the Beatitudes, from the Latin word meaning “blessing.” They describe what it means to be Christ’s follower; they are standards of conduct; they contrast Kingdom values with worldly values, showing what Christ’s followers can expect from the world and what God will give them; they contrast fake piety with true humility; and finally, they show how Old Testament expectations are fulfilled in God’s Kingdom.

study decrease back abit on your Bible - It talks about no longer storing your wealth in the international it really is a connection with putting your love into textile issues. It say to position your treasure in Heaven the position it will be probability-free. It then is going on for your verse. It means that in case you pick to pass to Heaven then you should Love God and Jesus and the Holy Spirit. in case you pick to pass to hell then love the textile treasure of earth. i wish this helped.
