The spelling "Whiskey" with an "e" is used for Irish and American whiskey. Scotch Whisky is spelled without an "e".

There are about 10 brands of Irish Whiskey, the most well-known being Jameson, Powers and Paddy, all of them with a fairly strong taste. There are about 400 brands of Scotch Whisky, some of them with really strange peaty tastes, some of them very bland. I don't know about American Whiskey.
