Martini means two different things.
"Martini" means a brand of vermouth, a wine-based drink from Italy. It comes in red and white varieties, and also in sweet or dry.
"A Martini" means a cocktail made from a mixture of gin and vermouth (which may be Martini vermouth or some other brand such as Cinzano).
A Dry Martini means a martini cocktail that has more gin than vermouth.

there is also a wine brand called Louis M. Martini. Formerly owned by the Martini family, now owned by E & J Gallo. It is located in the Napa Valley.
