Check out the websites for the respective States and work out the features that suit you best. Here's a place to access the links

Sydney has a lot more to do, but will not be as warm as the Gold Coast in September.

Then check out the hotel / resort options. For resorts, the Gold Coast probably scores higher. But Sydney is the place - the must see.

This is the best place for Sydney and Gold Coast bookings for September:

Sydney -

Hope that helps

Sydney. There is more variety and things to do. If you like tourist tat and theme parks, go to the Gold Coast. If you want more than that, go to Sydney. I live only two hours from the Gold Coast in northern NSW and have been there twice in the last five years. I go to Brisbane and Sydney seven or eight times a year but not the GC.

The weather in Sydney in September is usually great. That is why they chose September for the Olympic Games.

Gold coast.
people can be really arrogant in sydney. once you have seen the bridge and the operah house...which are together and take 2 mins to see. you've seen all of sydney!
go to gold coast. people are nicer, chances are the weather will be better and always something to do because it's really holiday destination.

I would go in between...Port McQuarie and South West Rocks are both beautiful places...I had a driving trip from Newcastle to the Gold Coast and fell in love with both of them.

In and around Goldcoast is a best bet.
Sydny is very crowded, day and night.

I would say the Gold Coast but it depends on what you both would like to do.
