In the movie "Far & Away", Tom Cruise calls Nicole Kidman a "corker". I figure this is Irish slang of some kind, and I was wondering if anyone could explain just what it means.

a general term for excellent or superb.

I've come across it most often in the context of cricket:

"Vaughan fell to the next ball, clean bowled by Gillespie, a corker of a delivery that had Vaughan beaten all ends up."
