I called my friend and he couldn't talk, so he said "I cant talk right now, I'll call you back, babe." Do guys call girls babe like that if they dont like them? I dont like him like that, does he like me though? Or an I just reading to much into it?

There's not one strict set of vocabulary that all guys use. It's impossible for anybody on here to tell you what he meant by it. Personally, sometimes I say the same thing to friends of mine who are girls and I don't mean anything by it at all. So yeah, he could very easily say that without liking you as something more than a friend. But since you're not sure, do you like him? If so then ask him. If not then ignore it. If that's the extent of what he does then he's just being friendly. If he moves on to saying other stuff then maybe he likes you and you should talk to him about it.

You're reading into it waaaaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyy too much. He might call you babe just as a pet name. Lovers aren't the only people who use pet names.
I have a male friend who I love to pieces, (we're both in strong happy relationships with other people), and he calls me babe, gorgeous, or doll. But we're friends and we've never been anything more and never will be. We just don't have those kinds of feelings for each other.

Hmmm I would think you might be reading too much into it. I once called a lady I worked with a pet name like that when I was talking to her on the phone and my g/f was standing right beside me. I didnt even realise that I had done it until my g/f said.......did you know what you just called her?

Well it is a pet name, does he call other girls that are his friends babe? When your around him in person call him a stud and see how he reacts.

You are reading too much into his words, I've found that guys say that even if they don't like you like that. I have a friend that says it all the time to everybody he talks to and he's not attracted to these females its just a figure of speech.

Just be cool. Because that signal was not clear, just wait for another and if it presents itself again, then you can be clear on your response to it. In other words, something like that, should not have you guessing, you should know what it means, without a shadow of doubt.

I think you might be reading into it too much. My guy friend calls me "hot mama" and "sexy" but we are clearly just friends. It's really situational, but from my experience it's common.

hey... stop.. your imaginations from riding too high... its not that males use this word "babe" for gals.. in any specific relationship or any special occassions... they can use it for anyone they feel comfortable enought to use it....
