Ok,ive been wanting to move to new york fo some time now and i need to know a couple things first:
1.Is it expensive to live in like just a one bedroom apartment for me and me only?
2. How much should i save up b4 i move? (just to be safe)
3.Where would be the best place to live like manhattan, queens, or the bronx?
give good details please,or ive you could direct me to a wbsite that might explain cost and apartments and etc.

well Manhattan is very expensive, studio starts from more than 1000$, Bronx is the cheapest to live out of all the mentioned above (example Pelham Bay 1bedroom apt can $850) but Bronx more dangerous, noisy, dirty, personally i don't like live in the Bronx i used to live there for couple months, my family still lives there so i go there often so as i said Bronx is very noisy, no place to go out example like in Manhattan or Brooklyn. Bronx is same to me as = ghetto. In Queens I've been to only one area (business thing), so i don't have much to say about it. I think for you Queens would be the best because as far i know about Queens it would range in the middle between Bronx and Manhattan. Queens is close to Manhattan, RENT would range in the middle between Bronx and Manhattan. I think you should safe at least enough for the1st month security deposit+ rent, if you would not have job before you'll come, safe enough for food and transportation during that time when you would look for job. www. craiglist.com is good website to look for jobs and apt., that where i found my job and also i was looking for apt. there too. Also try to look on web site for Pennysaver NY. because there alot of listing too.

Queens is better than bronx. is not only expensive, sometimes you go on a waiting list, or you have to prove lots of things before benn acepted to rent. Just try!

Manhattan is expensive and get a job before you go there because looking for one will take a while and be a pain.

maybe at first you can rent just a room (also can find on craigslist.com) and when you find a job and get to know things better, then you can find apartment in the area you will like and depending on where you get a job. thats what i did because i had only about 2000$ when i moved to nyc.

brooklyn i visited for 3 months im not much help. the bronx i know isnt really dirty u might not like the fast pace assome city well i wonder were ur coming from.
