It basically depends on their age and maturity level. Most of the younger girls look for the hot guy because they tend to see him as being a bad boy. They associate bad boys with excitement and danger but they fail to recognize that most bad boys will treat them poorly.
When girls become a little older they start opening up to the cute guys. When they are younger they think that the cute guys can't be exciting. They look at them as being 'safe' and 'boring'. The problem is most of these guys can be pretty exciting too, but just haven't been given the chance. Not only that, but the cute guys labeled as being the 'nice guys' usually treat their ladies much better than the bad boys.
So when the girls grow up and realize this they open up to the cute guys. It all comes with age and maturity.

Again another biased notion. It actually solely depends on what a girl wants her guy to be like. But as far as my knowledge goes most girls like cute faced with a bold heart kinda guy than a man with a chiselled, hot body but no courage whatsoever to face the real world.

Nope not always. Sometimes its just because u as a chick have noticed a guy who is really sweet (or seems to be) and he appears to like u. then u get a lil crush.... believe me i used to like the ugliest, dorkiest guy in our grade who had no respect for anyone. why? id have no idea.....
