Speak to your vet before giving your dog ANY medication. Dogs can have allergies just like humans----my chihuahua is allergic to benadryl!

When your vet gives you the OK, then give your dog a small dose---prescribed by weight. The liquid is great for a stubborn or a small dog, and for bigger dogs the chewable capsules work wonderfully.

Make sure to ask your vet first. And good luck!

Raisins are poisonous to canines!! not greater raisins!!! It doesn;t sound like she ate a lot, so it may actually basically bypass by using her device and fade away. If she has greater warning signs. like extreme scratching over an afternoon or so, it';s probably okay to easily enable her be. If she has hardship respiratory, or extreme scratching (like getting herself bald in a particular area), then take her to the vet. She could want antihistamines. The puppy antihistimine will cut back swelling and the itching.

If you are giving this for a bug bite reaction or skin reaction the dose given before was correct. 1-2 mg per pound for dogs 3 to 4 times per day. The chemical name is "Diphenhydramine".

If you are giving this for some other reason then a local skin reaction I suggest a phone call to the vet for a telephone consult to make sure it is the best thing to use.

Benadryl is exactly the right answer. You don't say what kind of dog, so it is prescribed by weight. You might want to call your vet so that he/she can tell you how many mg/kg is recommended for a dog that size. I use liquid children's benadryl and a medicine syringe with a tiny dog. There are children's chewable pills that make it pretty easy to dispense to a larger dog.

Call your vet before giving any medication to your dog. I don't care what it is---antihistamines or whatever. Your pet's system is not the same as a human's and what could help a human could VERY WELL KILL YOUR PET.

Please do not give any medication to your dog without talking with your veterinarian first.

You can give your dog Benadryl. The dose for a 25 pound dog is about 25mg (one regular strength tablet) A dog closer to 50 pounds can take a 50mg dose (two regular strength 25mg tablets). You probably won't need to exceed 50mg even if your dog is over 50 pounds.

It would be pretty difficult to kill or harm a dog with Benadryl, but you might make him or her mighty sleepy.
