Genesis 4:17. Cain left home and took a wife. Where did she come from? There was Adam and Eve, then Cain and Abel and there was no mention of any other people being around. I'm already confused and I have a long way to go. Are there missing pages in the story that caused this jump from 4 people existing to others suddenly popping up? Someone explain this to me PLEASE!

Trying to find plot holes in fiction is a fun thing to do, but not very productive.

Try not pick it to pieces, Read the whole thing with an open mind and with the understand that there are something in it the we may never understand ..

Most believe that Cain married one of his sisters. But most can not get past the "insest' part of that .. That is just one of the things we may never understand.

We also have to really try and think that it was a way different time then and in the bible Adam and Eve lived to be over or around 900 years old if I am correct and had 'many sons and daughters' So Cain marrying one of his sister would not have seemed strange back then .

Good Luck and read on....

Genesis 4:17 says, "Cain lay with his wife, and she became pregnant and gave birth to Enoch." Who was his wife? It is implied in the biblical text that Cain married one of his sisters. Several facts lead us to this conclusion.
First, it is clear that Adam and Eve had a number of children. Genesis 5:4 says, "After Seth was born, Adam lived 800 years and had other sons and daughters." Since Adam and Eve were the first man and woman, and since God had commanded them (and their descendants) to be fruitful and multiply (Genesis 1:28), it seems reasonable to conclude that Cain married one of his many sisters. It is also possible that he married a niece or even a grandniece.
One must keep in mind that in the early years of the human race there were no genetic defects that had yet developed as a result of the fall of man. By the time of Abraham, God had not yet declared this kind of marriage to be contrary to His will (see Genesis 20:12). Laws governing incest apparently did not become enacted until the time of Moses (Lev 18:7-17; 20:11,12,14,17,20,21). Hence, there was no prohibition regarding marrying a sister (or niece or grandniece) in the days of Cain.

Many ask this question thinking they’ve found a "mistake" in the Bible—that there must have been other people besides Adam and Eve. Scripture tells us that Adam is "the first man" (1 Corinthians 15:45); that there were no other humans when he was created, because God said, "It is not good that the man should be alone" (Genesis 2:18); and that Eve is "the mother of all living" (Genesis 3:20). Cain and Abel, then, must have married distant sisters. All of the first-generation siblings married each other in order to populate the earth. At that time there was no law against incest. But as the population grew large enough, and as the risk of genetic problems increased because of sin’s curse, God outlawed marriage between siblings.

Cain's wife came from the land of Nod. I do not know where that was except that it was north of Eden. As to her origin, please read the book of Genesis as a synopsis and not a day by day account of the lives of Adam and Eve. We know that Adam and Eve had children while in the garden because Father God told them to and they were obedient at first. How many and how long they lived in obedience is not known. Father God only wanted to convey the basic facts, not all the details. Moses would have had to stay on the mountain too long if God had given a blow by blow account. Moses is the author of this book according to Jewish history. The main purpose of Genesis seems to be Creation and establishing the covenant with Abraham.

Well first of all congratulations on taking that big step and trying to understand the Word of God. We all are pulling for you and hopefully you will soon be part of the body of Christ.

Here is what you do. Close your Bible and sit quietly and pray to the Father in the name of Jesus Christ that God will open your eyes to the hidden manna contained in the Word.

Now, open your Bible and start reading from the beginning of the book the beginning, Genesis.

You are going to be pleasantly surprised to find out that there are two creations of man. One on the 6th day where God created possible millions of men and women. The He rested for a thousand years and on the 8th day God made the MAN, et ha aadam. This is the man. The main man that Jesus Christ would descend from.

Everything you need to know is contained in the volume of the Book. The Bible. You will never see it if you look at it with your flesh eyes.><>

Adam had sons and daughters (Genesis 5:4) so Cain's wife was probably a sister. Marriages between close relatives were at first unavoidable since the whole human race came from a single pair. Only later was marriage between siblings prohibited (Leviticus 18:6-18)

Sure.
In Genesis 5:4 ,it says "And the days of Adam after he had fathered Seth were eight hundred years. And he fathered sons and daughters.’"
Adam lived for 930 years. He and Eve could have had hundreds of children, who intermarried with each other and had offspring over the generatons. There were plenty of women that Cain could have selected a wife from.

There are many theories. Here are a couple:
A) God created Adam and Eve first, but He also created others.
B) Adam and Eve had A LOT of children either while in the Garden or afterwards.... they did live hundreds of years, so I suppose it was possible. People often say this could never happen because then Cain would have married his sister, but that particular law might not have been handed down yet.

Talk to your spirtual advisor. I'd tell you that Adam and Eve weren't the only people God created.
Much of the Bible is a history book for the Jews and a way to prove the lineage of the House of David. That doesn't mean that God didn't create others who never developed writing .

Go back to the sixth day of creation. The Elohim (a plural word) said "Let US make men in our image." they did so and gave men the land and sea to look after. Then Yahweh Elohim (a specific one) made the Garden of Eden on the eighth day. So Adam and Eve were created apart from the rest of humanity. Cain went to the Other People.
Aas you read you will encounter populations that seem to appear out of nowhere, they are Other People. Read carefully, these Other People are not subject to the laws or punishments of the Garden of Eden. The original Torah, follows the path of Yahweh's people, the others are only incidental to the story and are not intended to be its focus. When the Christians came along, these Other People became vilified but are no such villians in the original text.
