It depends on the person's limitations. Even lifting a weight over your head can help lose some weight.

It is important not to become overweight. I found that switching to a primarily wholefood vegetarian diet and eating small portions - 5 or 6 times a day instead of larger portions fewer times a day was a great help. I tried to have a large proportion of raw vegetables and fruits, nuts, essential oils, essential grains, low fat cheeses, low fat milk, fresh squeezed juices, no coffee, no tea, definitely no sodas, was careful to avoid highly processed and adulterated foods, rarely eating over salted foods in restaurants (read up on what they do to foods) made me much slimmer, much healthier, bowel movements were better - even my complexion and my hair became so much better. And I simply felt better and had a great deal more energy and slept better. I once knew a very renowned Indian guru who had studied and practiced ayurvedic medicine for many years and he used to say "take food like medicine". It was only much later that I saw the sense in that.
