I'm 34 yrs old, and would love to have a baby. My husband and I have been married for two years and he has just recently gone back to school for his PhD. We're living on my salary, which isn't much, and we live in a very expensive area. We're scared to try for a baby, because we're unsure as to whether we can provide financially. I'd love to hear from other women who have gone through a similiar situation and how they have been able to handle it. Thanks :-).

We live in the cheapest area of NYC that we could find...my job is in new york and I already commute nearly an hour to get there. If we move any further, I'd have to change jobs and wouldn't qualify for FMLA.

I believe that when you have a child you end up providing for them one way or another.I am sure that when you find out you are pregnant you will have nothing that will stand in your way when it comes to supporting your baby.Good luck.I'm sure you guys will do just fine.

After age 35 [for women] it becomes more difficult to conceive a child...why not try moving to a less expensive area??? you don't have to move to a low-income area but maybe a decent place....but then again i just heard of a woman who over the past 6 years has had a kid each year [age 40-46] so you never know...think it through very carefully...expensive neighborhood...luxury or a nice neighborhood thats not soo expensive and a baby....if you cannot choose to leave a expensive place maybe a baby isn't for you at the moment....

If we all waited til the time we could afford them, noone would have children. Trust me, if you and the husband want a child now, then go for it, you will figure it out as the time goes by. Everyone struggles at one point or another.
