You should really go and talk to him first.
He wont com up wit a full conversation but maybe if you say hi he´ll answer.
If he knows you he´ll talk to you, so be sure you´re around but don´t follow him everywhere, that´s annoying.
I don´t kow where you met him but if you´re at school or work try to ask him something about that, it´ll be good.

It is extremely hard for guys to talk to girls! No joke. Maybe give him sometime or just give him some hints and he might come around.

pretend to be reading a book and walk straight into him. fall to the ground and he should say sorry while he helps you up (if he's a gentleman) then say it's your fault and introduce yourself. good luck
