Darn those little cousins, anyway!! ;)
If you have some no-tears formula Baby Shampoo, it is probably the best thing to wash your eye area with until you can get to a doctor. Warm water, a dab of baby shampoo on a clean wash cloth, wash your eye area (keep them closed!) very gently for about 30 seconds, then rinse well and pat them dry. Don't re-use the wash cloth, and don't let anyone else in the household use the towel either.
Then if the redness/itchiness persists, call a doctor or clinic for advice.
Good luck!!
:D

Pink eye, or conjuctivitis, can be caused by numerous microorganisms (viruses or bacteria). It is very contagious. Symptoms are redness, itching, a scratchy feeling on the eyes, and there could be an exudate or discharge as well. You should see a doctor if you think you have it; not only for your eyes and eyesight (!!) but so you don't spread it to others.

Symptoms of pink eye are eye redness, itching, and eye mattering or discharge. If you go to sleep and wake up and your eye lids are stuck together you probablly have pink eye. Usually doctors prescribe eye drops (an antibiotic).

If you have pink eye, besides the intense itch, your eyes will be red rimmed, your eyes themselves will be red and the inside of your upper and lower eye lid will be intensely red. Pink eye can be treated very quickly with eye drops from the doctor. You need to go see one.

If you have pink eye (which is HIGHLY contagious), the whites of your eyes turn red or pink. You should see a doctor, because you aren't allowed at school with pink eye.

Go to the doctors to have that checked. If you do have pink eye it won't get better on its own, you need a prescription eye drops for that.

That is how it starts with the itching. Your eyes will also hurt as it gets worse. It is highly contagious, but you probably already know that.
