I'm gonna assume you're a guy, but if you're a girl then just change the pronouns.
You want to be gentle. Don't shove your tonge down her throat. That's gross and totally unsexy. Don't lick her face randomly. That's just awkward. At least at first, it's more an exploration than a battle, and very, very subtle.
Mix it up. Kiss her mouth, then change to her jaw, or her neck, or gently bite her ear. Graze her lip with your tongue instead of just immediately sticking it inside. Bite or suck on her bottom lip.
Try to keep your mouth plyable, not all stiff. That's no fun. I kissed a guy once who had this really stiff lower lip and it felt so clumsy!
It's really intuitive, so just stay open. Make sure you're focused in on her reactions. Remember it's not just about your mouths. Run your hands over her arms, shoulders, back. Stroke her hair. Touch her neck and cheek.
And please, please don't smoke (cigarettes, cigars, pot--they taste gross!!) or eat gross stuff before trying it.

If you are with someone who you enjoy kissing, then I would talk about it so it is perfect for you. French kissing has many dynamics and you guys have to find a form of it that is comfortable.
