sit back and think about this one. does God defend sin. does Jesus. so why do christians. the bible has many scriptures saying to go and sin no more.John 5:14
Afterward Jesus findeth him in the temple, and said unto him, Behold, thou art made whole: sin no more, lest a worse thing come unto thee.
John 8:11
She said, No man, Lord. And Jesus said unto her, Neither do I condemn thee: go, and sin no more.
John 9:31
Now we know that God heareth not sinners: but if any man be a worshipper of God, and doeth his will, him he heareth.
Romans 6:6
Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin.
Romans 6:12
Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof.
Romans 6:14
For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace.
Romans 6:15
What then? shall we sin, because we are not under the law, but under grace? God forbid.

Romans 6:16
Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness?
1 Corinthians 15:34
Awake to righteousness, and sin not; for some have not the knowledge of God: I speak this to your shame.

I defend nothing. The word of God is always on the offense. Never defense.

This is an excellent question. But I think that Christians defend sinners, not sin. Jesus did the same. He prevented a woman from being stoned who was deserving of such a death under law. And when he told her to go and sin no more, he did not mean for her to become perfect, as that would have been an impossible request. One that could it be carried out would have cancelled out any reason for Jesus to have been born and to have died for sin. I think he was talking about the willful practice of sin, which is quite different than inherent sin, or sin brought about by the condition of sin. Willful sin is sin without repentance, without guilt, without thought, on purpose KNOWING better. This is what Christ was talking about, and when you read Romans, Acts and Corinthians particularly this becomes clear. Even Paul made the statement in agony that his "spirit was willing while his flesh was weak." He also said that what he should do is not what he did, what he shouldn't do is what he succumbed to. It doesn't specify his weakness or his Achilles' hell, but we know from his own hand that it caused him great angst and he was very troubled. Still, when he cried out to God in repentance and frustration and disgust at his own weakness, the response he got was, "My grace is sufficient for you." What a loving response from an understanding Father. You see, the difference in your scenario and that of Paul or a true Christian, each and every one of whom is a sinner, is that there is repentance, there is regret, there is guilt, sorrow and often self-loathing. Therein lies all the difference in the world. I hope this somewhat clarifies it for you. Again, that really is an excellent question I think.

As one Christian to another, my answer to you can be found in this one scripture found in the New Testament in, I John Chapter 1, verse 10. No; a Christian does not choose to live a life of sin, but being human, we will sin - guaranteed !!! Jesus defends the sinner (grace) not the sin .

I guarantee you, you did not quit sinning. Your sinning right now by judging others about their sin. Everything that is not of God is sin. Did you list that one? All of these verses are saying do not let sin control your life. There is a difference, and I would never encourage anybody to sin. But everybody sins, even after you have been saved. Think about it, God told us to obey the laws of the land, he told us to forgive others as he has forgiven us. If you have never drove one mile an hour over the speed limit I would call you a liar. If you say you have never held any resentment towards somebody I would call you a liar. Pride is sin, the sin that made lucifer fall was pride. Your sounding a little prideful to me.

Not sure why they defend it - I know plenty of Christians who think its "oh such a terrible thing to sin" and they try to abide by the rules - no drinking, no smoking etc etc... Fact is - we were made to sin. You cant not ever sin... gossip, over indulging, thinking bad thoughts about someone, calling someone a name, being jealous, pushing in line, etc etc - all sins!!! No christian out there can say that they never do any of these!
Just enjoy life and don't worry about it so much - if you have the faith in your heart - your gonna "go to heaven" still anyways.
Hey - even Ned Flanders sins!
Its impossible to never sin.

Wow, can you honestly say that since you accepted Christ you have never committed another sin? I thought I was being good but I can't come anywhere even close to being able to say that. But, in answer to your question, Christians are not superhuman. We are all tempted by sin and sometimes we falter too. However, there are a number of people who claim to be Christian that actually are not. They give God lip service but are sinful in their heart. We call them hipocrites (spelling) and Jesus spoke of them a lot when he was alive.

You really must be the perfect Christian. No sin. Wow. So Jesus must have been wrong as he said no one is without sin.
All of us other Christians fall for temptation, behave in a wrong way, repent but fail again. it's not easy to be a Christian but then Jesus never said that.

I don't intentionally sin. But as the apostle Paul said, I what I want to do I don't and I do what I don't want to do. I try to follow God's will but sometimes I get side tracked and pay attention to what the world is telling me instead of what the Holy Spirit within me is trying to tell me. I know one day I'll be perfect like my Lord, but until that day I will keep trying to follow Him as best I can.

'All fall short of the glory of the Lord'
Just because someone says that they are a christian doesn't mean that they are.
Just because someone said that they were a christian and sinned doesn't mean that they are defending sin.
All humans sin, but the true christians are the ones who learn form their mistakes, ask for forgiveness, and work towards being a better person for God.

I do not defend Sin, I repent of my sin, all Christians still sin (Including you) no one remains sinless even after becoming born again, A true Christian does not make excuses about sin, but is convisted of sin, repents and tries not to committ that sin again, Paul wrote on his death bed that he had fought the good fight he had finished the race ,he had kept the faith, he did not say he won it, Living the christian life is not about winning the race or the fight but about fighting it, we do not have to win the race or the fight because Christ won it for us on the cross, we do have to show up for it. and finish it.
