We always used TaxCut for our taxes but in 2006 we had a baby and my husband was still in College and had to pay tuition etc.
Would it be better to get an accountant this year so we can get all the deductions and credits we are elligible for? Or do the advanced versions of the tax programs cover everything already??

If you've been doing it with TaxCut and not having any trouble with it, it should be able to handle the new baby and the education credits. Those are pretty standard situations. I haven't used TaxCut specifically, but can't imagine that one of the top software items wouldn't handle these.

Good luck, and enjoy that new baby.

I have not used Tax Cut, but I have used Turbo Tax for the last 5 years. It asks those type of questions for you.

Accountants are not always right. If your in doubt, go to an H&R Block office. Or you can do it your self, just answer all the questions in tax cut.

Use the software. They have specific questions/sections just for you and your new deductions :o) I believe the basic TurboTax is all you need.

Trust me - I am an accountant!

Either TaxCut or TurboTax will do the job.

You don't need an accountant for the return you described. Any software package for individuals will handle the items you have.
