I believe it's because they carry germs/disease and when you squish them it spreads those germs all over!!! Plus most of the time they still run off after you smash them , ( even if they only have one leg !!!)and spread their germs to places unknown ! I have found that most sprays like raid won't kill them ( unless you drown them in it !!!) What I used was dish-washing liquid mixed with water in a squirt bottle ( about one half a cup of soap to a gallon of water - you don't want too much soap 'cause your gonna squirt it ANYWHERE you see a roach- and put a few tablespoons of bleach in it too , to kill the germs ) when you get a little bit on the roach it kills them dead - ( they have exoskeletons so they breathe through their "skin" and the soap will coat their bodies and "choke" them!!! GOOD LUCK ...and BTW- if you see one - there are a dozen more that you don't see!!!

I had a roach problem once and I remember I was chasing one big mamma cockroach when she ejected the egg capsule she was carrying from under her back legs. I won't go into details cos it still makes me cringe but they weren't actually live babies or anything. But if you just sprayed them they'd crawl away somewhere and leave the eggs anyway.

Cockroaches "lay" egg cases; presuming you stamped the cockroach thoroughly, the egg case would be just as squished as the mom.

probably b/c it would squirt juices all over. i think cockroaches lay eggs like all other insects, so stomping on them wouldn't release any babies unless they carry the eggs on their backs, which i think only some spiders do.

It's the eggs. They spread, and then they are on your shoes, too and can bring them home or wherever you go...
