absolutely!

as long as they are caring, understanding, and take an active part in their childrens lives there's no reason a man couldn't care of a child as well as a woman

Yes. I have never seen a man melt into a puddle of goo as fast as my husband (or for that matter my father or his father) when they hug my daughter. A lot of times after I've had the kids all day, daddy comes home and they want him cause they're sick of mommy. He tells them stories and reads to them and wrestles with them and tickles them. He teaches them how to be good and what is right and what is wrong. He kisses and hugs them. He changes diapers and gives them baths. He makes them food. He kisses boo-boos and teaches them how to play with the kitty. He wraps up the baby doll for my daughter and helps my son tie his shoes. He takes them out into the garden and pushes them on the swings. He sings to them. He decorated my daughter's birthday cake (true story...I'm the photographer, he's the sculptor). He makes mommy happy.

Now, it's not that I can't do all this stuff. I can and do. But daddy does it too and that's what matters.

I'm not saying that a daddy can be a good mommy. No matter how good a daddy he is, he's never going to be a mommy. But a good daddy is a wonderful thing.

You have to ask children of single parents that have only fathers as the caring parent if they ever felt deprived.
I think that children simply remember the love, and whoever provided the support and unconditional devotion plus of course the material needs such as food clothing and shelter.
Some are lucky to have both parents, If one parent who is left will carry on, sure, why not. It is his progeny after all.

Yes, but in a slightly different way.
Mums tend to be more sensitive and tuned in, whereas dads teach the more 'fun' and risktaking things. Just talk to them as much as you can, guide the conversation but let them tell you about things. Mums tend to take more time and 'multi-task' but there's no reason dads can't do the same!!

Yup, they can. They can be there to offer support when you need it, they can hug you and hold your hand, and they can give you pretty good advice.

However, for girls, there are some things only mothers know best. *wink, wink*

they can, it depends of how patient the parent is and how much love they show to their kids.
