i know a friend (yeah right a friend, huh?) who has rather large areolas for a male. he really enjoys going to the beach and works out alot and has alot of tattoos he would like to show off but is too self-contious about his areolas. is there any kind of plastic surgery for that?

NAC (or Nipple Areolar Complex) reduction is a straight forward operation, and can even be performed under a local anaesthetic.
It basically involves making a circular cut around the areola of the required size, with a second concentric cut around the rest of the areaola. The band of interposing skin (containing the excess areola) is then discarded, and the surrounding outer skin is then sutured bacy to the new NAC. This is called a Bellini areolar reduction.
The morbidity following this procedure is very low. A scar around the edge of the areola is unavoidable, but usually acceptable as there is a natural interface there between NAC and chest wall skin.
I would strongly advise AGAINST going abroad to get this surgery on the cheap. There is no guarantee as to the quality of the surgeon (even if USA/UK trained) and any follow-up would be in your home country. Too many times the National Health Service in the UK has had to foot the bill putting right botched surgery jobs from abroad. Go somewhere with accountability that is relatively local to you.

Yes!! He should get an appointment for a consultation with a reputable plastic surgeon. There is usually a cost involved for the consultation, but then that amount of money is taken off the bill when the surgery is done. Go for it!

For women, it's there.. It's called breast lift or mammoplasty.. They can reduce the size of the areola with this surgery.. I'm not sure about men though.. Check out Healthbase at http://www.healthbase.com.. A friend of mine went through them to get her breast lift surgery in India for cheap.. They might be able to help you..

its called a nipple reduction and you dont need any other procedure done just to have this one......................ps the procedure is not the danger of the surgery ,the general anesthesia is and there is a chance however small for death.
