YES, in a couple of states pharmacists can prescribe in a community setting, on their own.
Many states have collaborative care agreements. Which will allow pharmacists to adjust prescription drug doses without talking to a doctor.

No. Only an MD, DO, Physicians Assistant or Nurses Practitioner can prescribe prescription medicine. The PAs and NPs can do so only under the supervision of an MD or DO.
By the way...a DO is a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine. Equivalent to an MD.. My physician is a DO.

the American pharmacists cannot prescribe medications. they are an amazing font of information on all medications, either prescription or over-the-counter.

No. Only a doctor or nurse practitoner can prescribe medication. The only thing they can do is give you the generic version of whatever your doctor prescribed.
