Because faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.
So naturally as humans we want proof by seeing it. Faith does not allow this so it is tested constantly.

I believe that this is a good question. Or rather, I have faith that determining the truth of the matter will bear fruit in the lives of the open-minded. The substance of my faith, the physical manifestation of something that has yet to occur, takes the form of an answer (or my version of the answer). Indeed, like Scripture says, faith is the substance of things not seen.
Anyhow, a crude analogy might be to say that faith is the unseen form of one's spiritual body. Just as one's physical body in the absence of physical exercise deteriorates, so does one's spiritual body (or faith) when lacking spiritual effort and exercise. This is really not a statement against the notion of faith, but about the very verifiable fact of entropy in the universe. Other than simply not exercising faith (or your spiritual body), many things in the world act to oppose the health of a person's faith. People can indulge to destruction all manner of harmful foods such as candy and beer. In the same way, taking for granted obvious realities such as candy and beer (and internal combustion) without regard to things that have no handle (such as thought) might lead to the dissolution of one's faith.
In my experience, Christian's (or other religions) don't come together to reaffirm the notion of faith. Most take the existence of faith for granted. Believer's come together to improve upon the faith they already possess.
Mechanics don't meet to reaffirm the truth of internal combustion because it's not rightly called a belief; it is a fact. If I say that I believe I am a human male, I am saying the same as I am a human male. The word "believe" adds no information to the statement because I'm stating a fact, and it might rightly be placed in the Anatomy section of Yahoo! Answers, rather than the Religion section. For this reason, faith doesn't appear, at least to me, to be the "only" belief which requires work, as if it exists among equals like one apple in a barrel of apples. If faith can be differentiated from belief, one, at the very least, spawns the other. Outside of faith (or belief), everything is fact. Faith and fact operate in two completely different spheres, the cojoining of the two representing reality.
I think I've learned something here. To God be the glory.

Affirmations of faith are the height of religious redundancy.
They have nothing to do with faith and are most often a repeated credo; developed by the divinely disconnected for repetition by the divinely disenfranchised.
Writing affirmations of faith, due to the complications necessary to acquire heaven, demand at least three years of seminary study. Five years of desert confinement, sleeping celibate with a church approved Thesaurus under ones pillow, is also acceptable.

Maybe not but would you would you pay a mechanic that had not fixed a thing in years? No because he would be out of practice and rusty. Well Christians that don't practice their faith and re-affirm it become "rusty" to.

Because people who have faith in something other than themselves have doubt about the truth of that faith, and need to re-affirm it at regular intervals.
People who have faith in themselves, however, don't need an outside entity to believe in.

Because spiritual maturity is the work of a lifetime and we are constantly disobeying and needing forgiveness. It is our selfish nature and God is so patient with us as we move from spiritual infants to people that are a blessing to those around us. I am very glad that God used imperfect people in scripture because if they had been perfect then we would give up on ourselves without even trying. Isn't God good. Mmm

Satan is always trying to make you stumble when it comes to things of god. Satan doesn't
care about internal combustion, he only wants your sole.

The purpose of the Mass every week is to worship our God and show how much we love him. Maybe you should try going to my church sometime before you judge it.
