Wow, 33" is actually pretty small for a guy. My husband used to wear a 29-30 (depending on the pants)--he now wears a 32, and he is STILL really slim.
I'd assume that for a VERY athletic man, a 33" waist would be fairly trim.

I depends completely on the man, much like dress sizes for women. I am 6'4'' and weigh about 220 lbs and in pretty good physical shape, about 12-13% body fat, and I have a 36 inch waist (Size 36 pant) which is pretty average for a guy my size and build. However, if someone were shorter, say 5'5'' and had a 36 inch waist, they are probably a bit "plump" I would say that is they list themselves anywhere between 6 feet and 6'5''. a 32 to 36 pant is probably a pretty good build.

I would have assumed athletic would mean "fit" and not chubby if tehy were chubby they would say cuddly or extra bounds. You could always go to a mens store and find a pair of pants that says 33 and see how big that is.

No! Not at all. 33 is small, mens pants are carried in stores up to a size 52. and down to about a 29. So no, it's a smaller/average size.

33 mens is fairly fit. You're talking about a guy who is likely less than 20 pounds overweight at worst. Probably much less.
And Neil was dead-on. A few extra pounds to women means 50+ extra pounds, at least on Match.com.

If you 5' tall it is.. if you're 5'10 or higher its not and if your above 6'4" you're skinny.
Just put average if you wear 33.. The real thing to know is if you have moobs or man boobs. Or rolls of fat on your back. Beer bellies dont always count on guys as being fat so you need the other two indicators. Also if you have more than one chin you shouldnt check off athletic.

That depends upon your height. Shaquille O'Neal is 300+ lbs but is proportional. Athletic does NOT mean chubby on a dating site, it means your in shape and work out regularly and follow an active lifestyle.

Athletic means a nice body. The size is usually 32 though.

Athletic means what it implies. It's someone who is of a lean build, and does a fair amount of working out to have a toned body.
But the description is not based by actual measurments, but more about general appearance.
