I am going to assume you mean tongue. I asked about a dozen young ladies (under 18) if their tongue piercing hurt...and to rate it on a scale of 1-10.

Ten of the 12 paid extra to have their tongue numbed.

All of the said yes, it did hurt and 8 of the 12 rated the pain at 7 or higher. The remaining 4 rated it between 4 an 6. Not scientific I grant you but it might give some indication of what to expect.

I guess it comes down to how much pain you are willing to accept to satisfy your obsession and desire to look cool. What the heck...good luck.

I thought it would be horribly painful too..it's definitely NOT as painful when it's done..it sucks wayyy more afterwards..my tongue swelled up and due to the long barbell they put it in my tongue, i talked funny until i got used to it..i was exteremly worried that i was still talking funny nearly 2 weeks after i got it done, but you just have to get used to talking with the bell in ur tongue so dont freak out,and make sure you get ibuprofen..preferably the cheap stuff..it works great for the swelling..dont try to eat anything really solid for a few days..it makes the swelling worse, drink lotsss of water and stock up on yogurt..and my tongue compared to my monroe piercing..the monroe (upper left side of my lip) hurt ALOT worse when getting it done..it's definitely awesome and worth it when it heals though..good luck!
(i suggest not getting it numbed..the pain is quick and it's over with fast..dont waste your money and DONT tense up,when the piercer says relax..do exactly as he says..)

My best friend got her tongue pierced and i went with her and watched the whole thing. She was able to pay extra to have it numbed but it still hurt her. The entire week after she couldn't eat and was pretty miserable. I would wait until you are 18!

It doesn't hurt when you get it done. However, the next day...IT HURTS! It will swell significantly and you will not be able to chew very well. The swelling goes down after a day or so and if you chew on ice it helps. Just be careful. Your mouth is very susceptible to germs and can be an entry point for infection. Tons of people get it done though so don't be too worried. I did it and nothing went wrong.

I got mine done years ago then took it out then got it redone years afterwards.....It doesn't hurt that much, your mouth will water like you are drooling.on the 3rd day of healing it really hurts.don't smoke as it will harm your piercing, gargle with warm salty water.if you do have pain you can take an anti-inflammatory.
