It will be much easier and cheaper to uprade the 5.8L V8. It is basically a 351 Windsor. Get a 408 Stroker Crank, install a decent set of heads and a decent cam and 400hp with 400 lb ft of torque should be no problem.

Instead of doing an engine swap, why not hop up your 5.8 v-8? There are any number of things you can do (intake changes, exhaust - headers and flowmasters, cams, even supercharging) if you really are serious about making more power, I'd suggest you stay away from engine swapping - it's expensive, time- and energy-consuming and in the long run, you probably will not have a driveable, legal vehicle anyway. Pick up one of the Ford-specific magazines on the newstand and read through it carefully, make extensive notes, figure out how much you want to spend (speed costs money - how fast do you want to go?), what are your mechanical skills (how much work can you do yourownself and how much will you have to farm out?) and decide from that point what your goals are.

Fordguy, watch the way you word your descriptions. The 302 and 351W are the two Windsors, however the mains are extra advantageous on the 351W. The 302's oilpan, distributor, head bolts, exhaust and intake are distinctive demensions. The 351W has a taller deck top. returned, those engines are from a similar kinfolk of Windsors, yet not completely a similar. pass to the positioning I published under and examine that thread. i'm the only that post the image close to the backside of that internet site so which you will see the glaring transformations.

Basicly any ford V8 will go in, all the way up to the 500cid's.
the 460 is good but the rings burn out quick. personaly I like a 428 Police Interceptor w/ super charger and hooker headers. AWESOME
