No. The coast guard doesn't offer a variety of training that you can use in the real world later.

A friend of mine went to and graduated from the CG Academy years ago. His wife and family moved in with her parents for the 1st year to save money. The next year she moved just outside of New London, CT so she and her husband could see each other when permitted.

Check with your recruiter and you can contact the academy (www.cga.edu) and ask about family support systems.

I'm a little surprised that the USCGA allows married cadets. The military academies don't...or at least didn't when I received my commission. Perhaps it is because it is part of the Commerce Department and technically not a military academy.

Good luck to you.

My son is interior the Coast guard. he's fatherland protection. i don't comprehend if any of them set as much as Iraq, yet he by no potential has. He likes his pastime and plans to stay interior the Coast guard till he retires early. He appeared in any respect military ideas and felt the Coast guard grow to be the suited one. of course, he went into it till now 9-11. i don't comprehend what he might have desperate if it have been after 9-11 whilst he enlisted.

The Air Force or Army would be a much better choice for you however it is a known fact that the NG gets the best drugs and the youngest broads so I guess it's a toss up.

Good Luck

If you enter the academy, you will definitely be separated from your family especially on the first year when you are not allowed to go home.
