Hey! I live in East Texas! Something very fun is the East Texas State Railroad. It runs from Rusk to Palestine and back. I took my 3 yr old and my sisters and we really enjoyed it!

Contact the local Company Officials at the rail terminal nearest you. I don't know how much success you will find in the current climate, but, if related to classroom studies, in the interest of public relations often times arrangements can be made.
Of course there will have to be chaperons and releases of liability signed by parents of the school children involved, as well as the chaperons. I have had the pleasure of conducting such tours myself, so I know it can be done. It is only a matter of whether the railroad will cooperate or not.
