I don't find the problem is kids. The problem is the adults that are having them. Too many are having welfare checks instead of children. And way too many are letting the kids do the running of the house. Kids do need discipline. NOT abuse, but discipline. Fair, known punishment meted out for breaking fairly set boundries.

I have to agree with the previous statement, it isnt that people actually dislike children, they dislike the parents. No considerate realistic parent takes a 2 yr old child out to a fancy resturant and expect them to act like an adult. I'm sorry but that part sucks about being a parent- you dont get to go be accepted anywhere anymore, you have to realize what your child is capable of- behavior wise. Do I think if you are going to a fancy resturant that the child should be able to act politely and properly? Yes, if they cant because of their age - you dont go or you get a babysitter. Yes, being a parent isnt convienent. Now if I go into a 'family' resturant, I do not expect people to be upset about my 2 yr old throwing a tantrum- thats why i would have chosen a family resturant. That being said however, the thing that I have had strangers come up and thank me for is the fact that when my kids get out of hand, I get up and leave and go to the bathroom and let him/her have their tantrum in there so we dont disturb anyone else - it usually makes the fit shorter too, since they dont have the audience to impress. It comes down to respecting and being considerate of those around you, which unfortunatley, seems to be non-exsistant in America now a days. Some parents do the - "oh if i ignore the tantrum, it will end soon..." ... like anyone else wants to hear the child scream at the top of their lungs for 30 minutes just so you can 'ignore it'. All it teaches the child is that behavior doesnt matter. If it discourages some people from having children, that to me is fine - I believe in quality, not quanity.

As a new mom, I find what that girl just said to be despicable. Not all children are out of control brats, and not all people who procreate are lowlives. I personally don't understand why some people want babies to act like trained monkeys in church or in restaurants. I do try to keep my daughter from crying or quiet her quickly, but she's just a baby! Children are humans, too and we all do things that aggravate other people. Children are a miracle, and only people who have never been blessed with them could be so callous as to consider them a bother.
It's parents that create the problems. If more people would stop and think about how they're raising their children, the world would be a different place.

I used to think I didn't like kids. But, I realized that it's PARENTS I don't like. The real problem nowadays is that many parents don't discipline their children, and therefore the children become a burden on the rest of society. They are not scolded for talking or kicking chairs during movies. They are not punished for hitting the other kids in class. Etc. This will cause them to possibly become obnoxious adults (at the least!).
I think that parents should be required to take some kind of parenting class while pregnant, like they may take a lamaze class if having natural birth. However, I don't think kids should be expected to act like adults (they should be being taught how to, but not expected to from their first breath) and I don't think parents should have to pay higher taxes.

People have a problem with kids because there are so many children that are not respectful these days. One does not expect to go to a play and and hear little children whining or throwing things or running around and yet that is what these kids do. This happens in restaurants and many other places where adults are trying have a good time while they paid to have their children to be watched at home

I think alot of it is people are afraid of what to tell or what to say to kids. In today's society you get blamed for even the most insignificant things. Alot of people are rude and do not realize that, especially when it comes to thier own children. People see everyday in newspapers all these negative things and they become fearful that it will happen to them or thier family. Fear is a huge selling point for advertiser's (don't get it know and you'll lose your chance) it's a very bogus thing. Children should be given a little more respect and a little more consideration so that way they have the best chance at having a good strong moral life. Abuse is for the week. and exuses are not justificated if not corrected. Hope this helps

As far as I can see the only burden on the government is the officials themselves, give the American people the same health care and pension benefits they have and we may just have a little better country. Kids are kids, some are worse than others, some parents not as good as others, but that's just the way things go.

I love kids (even the brats). They are the most precious gifts. Bring em on. The more the merrier.
Sorry but as for the girl above me, what kind of parent raises there children to not want to play with other children? Get over the empty nest syndrome. Your kids are still at home.

Most kids are absolute brats, they will run into someone in a store and not say "Excuse Me" and act like it is perfectly fine. Most children have a total lack of manners and common sense nowadays, and it is in how the parents are raising them. I have two children myself, they have the most wonderful manners and behave pretty darn perfectly. People always tell me how exceptional they are when we go out to eat or go shopping, because they actually BEHAVE, which is pretty rare today. When we go out to eat we always ask to sit as far away from other children as possible! We like to do our shopping while Public School is in session because my children can't stand to shop while other children are running around the store or playing in the toy aisle like it's Christmas morning.
So I would say people have such a negative attitude towards kids because parents don't raise them right and they are a pain to other people!

That will never happen here- there is too many lowelives in US that will always be procreating even though they shouldn't. That's why you see all those out of control brats always screaming and running at the mall, on the street- doing whaterever they want b/c parents don't know how to be a parent- they try to be their friend.
