Sir, most respectfully -- your statistics will not be valid. First, the respondents
are likely those who have a propensity to reply to your question -- one of
100's; possibly over 1000 easily available. Secondly, You have no adequate cross section, having posted your question on only 1 [or possible 2or3]site
[military] which is not looked at by the masses. Third, you have no control as
people on this site a) don't have to answer b) can lie etc. etc. Please consider
reviewing your texts concerning the gathering of data for valid polling prior to
referencing a source such as Yahoo! Answers. About all you can claim is that you posted a Q, had X # of replies in Y days with A # saying they had 1 or more guns -- the highest being_______ and B # reporting no guns. Then
you will be safe as you have not conducted a poll nor "validly sampled a cross section".
Please take no offense -- my reply was meant to be helpful: You will probably
get a response of 10 to 20 people [maybe 40] from an Internet audience. You
won't even have enough to properly apply a mathematical test for significance
which follows the guidelines for such tests [refer to any Statistics Textbook].

I own several, my first gun was a 22 caliber colt woodsman, then a 22 caliber marlin rifle, both were given to me by my dad. The next gun I aquired was a mossberg 22. Those 2 rifles I use for rodent hunting. Then I saved and bought me a colt 1911 45. After that I got my concealed weapons permit and typically carry a glock 40 caliber. Next I bought a pair of EAA 45 Caliber single action revolvers along with a Winchester 1894 - 1994 in 45 caliber and a Remmington Spartan double barrel shotgun. I use those 4 in Sass meetings. I also own a 7 mm mag, for hunting deer and elk. Then finally I own a Savage 20 ga 22 Lr over under shotgun.

No, neither I nor my husband own any weapons of any sort. That is not to say we don't appreciate the right to do so, if we choose at a later time. The biggest reason we do NOT have any guns is because we have 7 children here who are not responsible enough to understand not to touch them and they are dangerous, not for children. When they grow up, it may be a different story. Ask me again in 15 years.

I have a 270 semi auto hunting rifle and a vintage 44magnum semi auto hunting rifle. I can almost throw a rock straighter and farther than the 44 but it can blow over a small alder tree =)
No handguns here.

No, I don't. If I did, it would only be for defense, and it wouldn't be until my son were old enough to be taught the correct and incorrect uses. It would always be locked up and despite the fact that it would need to be loaded or have ammo nearby if it was for defense, my son wouldn't know where it was or how to access it. All in all, I just don't think I would own a gun, ever.

My wife and myself own a total of 26 firearms. Eight of them are rifles ranging in .17 through .375 cal, 4 are shotguns ranging from .410 through 12 guage, 8 are pistols ranging from .22 through 10mm and 6 are revolvers ranging from .22 through .50 cal. I know how to shoot them and do so regularly and yes I have stopped 2 crimes from happening in my home; one through the use of deadly force on two scumbags.
I know it wasn't ric cause these two didn't walk away!
