The bible states that Adam and Eve had many sons and daughters.

No count given, just many.

Please read Genesis for yourself, you will surprised at all the misinformation that you have from just listening to others talk about it.

Either procreation stemmed from mating with siblings or that
there were other people in the world that weren't mentioned
in the bible. If you refer to the Cain and Abel story, Cain left
the area and married into another tribe. I think that the story
of Adam and Eve were a direct result of the lineage of this
particular tribe. The story was actually told many generations
down. The Real Adam and Eve, the very first humans on the
earth would have had to had descendants far before the
incident of Cain and Abel in order to have an outside tribe
for Cain to join. A second possibility is that Cain and Abel
were not the first generation born to Adam and Eve. The
name Adam and Eve may have been a synonymous name
for the beginning of the lineage

The Bible says that Adam and Eve also had daughters. Obviously, their sons and daughters married and produced children.

Some people are aghast at this blatant incest in the Bible. However, there was no law against it until about 1300 BC, according to the Biblical code. Many different cultures practiced inter-family marriage: among them the Egyptian royal family and the Tiano people of North America. Abraham and Sarah were half-siblings.

Please don't try to impose an "ex post facto" morality code on Adam and Eve.

What makes you think Eve only had sons? The Bible, according to apologists (the slippery slimy worms that Bill Clinton consulted with before being "interviewed for the Starr Reprot), doesn't say a lot of things that are really there. And a lot of the things it does say, aren't really there. Like the whole contradiction in timelines between Genesis 1 and Genesis 2. According to apologists, doesn't exist! I'm sure we'll see some sorry [pun intended] apologetic answers here.

Genesis 4:17 says, "Cain lay with his wife, and she became pregnant and gave birth to Enoch." Who was his wife? It is implied in the biblical text that Cain married one of his sisters. Several facts lead us to this conclusion.
First, it is clear that Adam and Eve had a number of children. Genesis 5:4 says, "After Seth was born, Adam lived 800 years and had other sons and daughters." Since Adam and Eve were the first man and woman, and since God had commanded them (and their descendants) to be fruitful and multiply (Genesis 1:28), it seems reasonable to conclude that Cain married one of his many sisters. It is also possible that he married a niece or even a grandniece.
One must keep in mind that in the early years of the human race there were no genetic defects that had yet developed as a result of the fall of man. By the time of Abraham, God had not yet declared this kind of marriage to be contrary to His will (see Genesis 20:12). Laws governing incest apparently did not become enacted until the time of Moses (Lev 18:7-17; 20:11,12,14,17,20,21). Hence, there was no prohibition regarding marrying a sister (or niece or grandniece) in the days of Cain.

Great question! Some say that he mated with his sister. The problem with that is that A&E had two sons, Cain & Abel. After Cain kills Abel, God punishes Cain to wander the earth. Cain doesn't object to his punishment as a wanderer, he objects because he fears that when he comes across other men, they will kill him. So, God gives Cain a mark, so that men will know not to kill Cain. We are then told that Eve knows her mate once more and God gives them a son, Seth, to replace Abel. We are then told that A&E live into their 900's and have many other children, but that does not happen until after Seth is born. So:

1) Who were these other men that Cain feared if they were the only people?

2) Cain meets his wife while wandering. Who the hell is she, and where did she come from? If she were one of the offspring of A&E, then why did Cain meet her while he was wandering? Was she being punished by God as a wanderer too?

edit: Lilith is an interesting character, but did she have children with Adam?

Eve gave birth to forty children, twenty sets of twins, each set a boy and a girl. Her eldest son Kabil (Cain) later slew his younger broter Abil (Abel). In this way Eve was punished for having eaten the forbidden fruit.

Everyone keeps saying she had a bunch of kids. They are forgetting the next questions, which are: Did Adam and Eve's kids procreate with each other? Were mom and dad involved? It's still creepy, even if she had a thousand children.
