I had my knee cap dislocated 6 times before I went to the doctor.. and after a few x-rays I was told I needed surgery. They explained that a ligament that is attached was longer than it normally should be so I would need surgery to fix the problem. You should get some x-rays to know for sure what is causing yoru knee to get dislocated, maybe you just aren't moving correctly and you put some stress on it. But to make sure you go to the doctor. I think the physical therapy won't help if its a problem with your ligaments. If your doctor keeps on telling you to go for more physical therapy and you think its not working maybe you should try another doctor and see what he says. Good luck.

I broke my knee cap last Easter....feel your pain. You have two or three ligaments that hold your knee cap into place. It is possible you have stretched or torn them. If so, surgery may be an option. Otherwise, you might try doing the same exercises you did in therapy. If the muscles around get stronger, it will help hold it in place. If muscle strengthening works. Try to keep up the exercises to minimize injury again.

The patellar ligaments are loose due to stretching/injury. I had an injection treatment called Reconstructive Therapy whic repaired my 40% torn ACL which used to go out of joint easily and frequently, to the point where I can do vigorous walking, low inpact aerobics, and cardio machines without the fear of it going out on me.
