I recommend waiting until the urge is overwhelming, then kissing him after a long eye contact in which you can plainly see each other wanting to kiss. Don't worry about what your hands do -- if the moment is REALLY right, you won't care and neither will he. It'll be totally natural.
Usually though, people don't do this, they freak out and the first kiss is awkward and too early. Forgive yourself in advance, it'll probably happen to you. If he's really good for you, the two of you will laugh about it together and it'll be no big deal.

if i was that guy i would have kissed(peck) u the same day, personally i prefer that a girl hugs me around my neck but the hips are ok too. as long as ur kissing a person who u like not anyone that u don't even like.

Make him make the first move, then just go with it. Just make sure you're not both sitting around far too late at night getting overtired and randomly decide to make out because you're too dumb to know better...yeah that happened yesterday with me and one of my friends.
