Cause they're both tasty and relatively inexpensive. What's not to like?

People like pork and ham products because they are tasty. Pork when cooked slowly has a lovely softish texture and isn't fatty at all. Pork backstraps can be cooked until just pink and have a light taste and no fat - heaps less fat than other meat. Ham can be added to recipes and it really adds to the taste. It bolsters the taste of plain food such as noodles.

Pork is VERY Tasty. I love bacon and Ham.
I don't eat pork anymore because I found out that pigs contain retroviruses which are not killed when cooked or frozen and the viruses are in every cell of the pig.
This is very scary to me.
There is a big debate weather to use pig organs for transplant or to grow cloned human organs in these animals, as the viruses may adapt to cause a cross over to humans virus.
This cloning thing using animals is outrageous to me. my opinion.
People who work closely with pig processing have been know to come down with some of these retro viruses.
An EXAMPLE of a retro virus is AIDS. I am not saying that Pigs contain retroviruses and they can make you sick. Not to mention the also harbour tapeworms.
So no pork for me.

well i did like pork until this week i found out they have been cloning hogs and goat aswell as the cows. so now i'm giving up pork. i gave up red meat around november of last year. but an all poultry and seafood diet isnt so bad, i'm aiming to lose weight anyway!

This sounds like a personal expression. I presume you don't like pork because the pig is closely related the human pig? (Thought I would throw in my own opinion)

pork is easily digested and is really good. how would you eat ham and cheese? pork chops. a BLT yumm. i heard human meat tastes like pork. Ewwww.

They taste good, they are easy to cook and they are leaner than beef (and pork tenderloin is leaner than chicken).
Just because you don't like it doesn't mean that no one else should!

I am forever poised with this question. I am Jewish and for the bible says, not to eat the hoofed animals, the pig is one, eeeek.
