Well, the sin was lying, and you make a good point.

Or, more likely, he was only fooling his family and congregation with the double life, and all of his "super-spiritual hocus pocus" was just glam.
I have seen it all before. Tongues is extremely easy to fake. It isn't difficult to set up a fake "healing" for show. Any actor can put on a good spiritual "pep talk" and call it a sermon; Steve Martin did it several years ago in a movie!
The sad thing is, as long as people are looking for an exciting "spiritual" show, with a good front man, they are going to find one. Shysters abound, and they make their living off of taking advantage of others.
God is not fooled by makeup and babble. We shouldn't be either. The sad part is that we often are. Holiness is something that is visible without being broadcast. Those needing to broadcast it, in order to make $$$, probably don't have it to begin with.

All these guys do not recieve the holy spirit and do not talk in tongues, you can do that too, just blabber something and there you are talking in tongues. Healing is either stage managed or depending upon the faith of the individual who wants to be healed.

You are right on track. This should have been a wake-up call for his ffollowers. Sadly, vvery few have questioned what this false prophet (and a few others like him) have been teaching. Despite the obvious fact that he has not been acting as a man of God, it doesn't seem to have occured to them to question him; they just continue to foolow blindly.
Oh well. . ."The children of darkness are wiser in their generation than the children of light"

God did know, and probably warned him many times before he was exposed publicly. God is very patient, but when you cheapen His grace, God will expose your sin.
As it is written: "For the time has come for judgment to begin with the household of God. And if it begins with us, what will be the outcome for those who refuse to obey the gospel of God?" (I Peter 4:17)
