I got my chihuahua over a month ago and he is really great, everything is wonderful. I put him in a crate next to my bed at night (to help with the potty training, blah blah blah). His whining has drastically gone down but he still does it a little before he goes to sleep. I do everything i was told to do, not acknowledge it. I was just wondering, do you know if he will ever completely stop or is a little bit every night normal?

You have to think on your chihuahua's level....
A puppy/dog thinks "in the moment" Sometimes they dont understand its night night time and thats why hes in "That Box".
All he knows is he is confined to a space where he can't walk around the house.
Try placing him in his crate for short periods of time...a few minutes and when he doesnt whimper...let him out and reward him with a treat or toy.
You could also buy a small "Kong" toy and stuff it with "Kong Stuffing" (This is a dog safe toy that you can stuff with treats)
He will show interest in the treat toy and will be more worried about getting whats inside out so he can eat it that he will not think about being in the crate. He'll mess with that toy till he falls asleep.....hopefully!

Can you immediatly put a sheet over the cage--this will indicate lights out/bedtime so the dog is not distracted by seeing you walk around, etc.

What i have done for my puppy is to take the pillow case off my pillow and use it like a blanket.. It will smell like you and your puppy will sleep much better...good luck...
